Flour Tortillas

Ingredients:
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • pinch salt
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 6 tbsp vegetable oil

Preparation:

  1. Mix the flour, baking powder and salt. Add the oil and work it into the flour with your fingers until fully incorporated.
  2. Add the water a little at a time until obtaining a smooth dough.
  3. Shape the dough into small balls; the smaller the balls, the thinner your tortillas will be.
  4. Let the balls of dough rest for 15 minutes before rolling them and cooking them one at a time for a couple minutes (or less depending on how thin you make them) on a medium/ high heated pan.

  1. You have such a pleasant voice and you were very thorough in your description. It was nice that you didn't have lots of noise in the background as some do!

  3. Hey ! Great recipe ... thanks for sharing ! I was only wondering, why using baking powder ? I found a lot of mexican recipes with only flour, salt, water and oil. Is this some american recipe ?
What the effect of the baking powder ? Is it lighter or fluffier ? Thanks for your answer. Best Regards, Charles.

  5. Came out very plain tasting. I recommend more salt and a little sugar (similar to other recipes out there).
